Course intent

Iyengar Yoga is a precise and careful style of yoga, paying strong attention to correct postural alignment

and body awareness, so it’s an excellent starting point for those new to Yoga practice

What will I learn?

The system of teaching Iyengar Yoga is methodical, structured and progressive, emphasising detailed correctness and safety. You will develop:

· Your learning of yoga postures (asanas) in standing, seated and lying positions, and how they work in sequence.

· Your learning of breathing exercises (pranayama) and relaxation techniques.

You will be using equipment, such as blocks, or bolsters, to assist you to achieve the posture correctly, at your own pace and to suit your body.

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

This course is designed for learners who have been practicing yoga for 2 years +. This is not suitable for

beginners. It includes exercises in standing, seated and lying positions, however the tutor can adapt for

your needs.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

Before the first lesson:

· Wear comfortable clothing that will allow you to reach up and bend down. Add an extra warm layer or light blanket for use in relaxation.

· Yoga is practised with bare feet

· Bring a bottle of drinking water. The centre has fountains to refill.

· You will need a yoga mat. Please bring your own or borrow one of ours.

· Please bring your own bands or blocks or borrow ours

What can I do when I finish the course?

Enrol on the next Improvers yoga course.

would like to discuss your extra support needs with a member of the Supported Learning Team who will

then contact you as soon as possible. If you are enrolling within 10 days of the course start date, we may
